“Dart Boards Electronic – Parts of a Dartboard.”

Dart Boards Electronic –Electronic dart boards offer an interactive, hassle-free way to enjoy friendly competition with your family and friends. Don’t sweat manual scoring, modern electronic dart boards track every throw, announce scores, and keep the game moving.

If you’re a casual at-home dart player, then you’re in the right place. Fun without the fuss, these boards bring a social, energetic vibe to any home. The experts at edartboards.com have been asked by our flight club to take a deep dive into what makes an electronic dartboard tick.

Let’s look under the hood and check things out!

Dartboard Target

The dartboard target is the face of your dartboard. A regulation soft tip dartboard measures 15.5 inches in diameter. There are smaller sizes available for tight spaces, but we find that most spaces in condos, apartments and homes are spacious enough to accommodate your board.

The target is divided into segments. Each segment is called the “dart bed”. The numbers on the target are arranged as follows: the 20 segment is at the top, with 5 on the left and 1 on the right, making the most rewarding targets more difficult to hit. For more details on the numbering system check out our earlier post “A Digital Dart Board by The Numbers.”

The best electronic dartboard brands are designed with concave scoring holes in the target face. Why does the shape of the scoring hole matter? The concave design will help guide your dart into the scoring hole. The dart will then engage one of the inner scoring sensors to count your throw. Take a deep dive into automatic scoring with our recent article, “Automatic Dartboard Scoring: Boost Fun and Speed.”

Dartboard Spider

The dartboard spider is a web-like structure build over the target face of the dartboard. The engineering and design of this part of a dartboard is critical to your ability to rack up high scores. Why is the dartboard spider so important? One, the thinner the dartboard spider, the more scoring area you have available to attack the target area. Two, the thinner the spider design, the less chance you have of hitting the spider and having your dart bounce out.

Darts that bounce out are the enemy to all dart players because you have no score to show for your throw.

On most premium electronic dartboards, you will have a bounce out button. If you choose to use this feature, and you throw a bounce out, your turn will not count, and you can throw again. Some players don’t like to use this feature because they want to make the game more challenging.

A lot of the players in edartboards.com “flight club” are loose cannons and leave it off. But they tend to show off more. We’ll still respect you if you turn the button on.

Darts Scoring

One of the biggest attractions to an electronic dart board is the digital darts scorer. No one in the history of home-based games wants to manually keep score. Doing a math problem in the middle of a dart game sucks all the fun out of the room.

A dart score keeper will keep tons of scoring statistics in real time. When playing dart games like Cricket, most quality boards will display Points Per Dart (PPD) and Marks Per Round (MPR) so you can gauge how you’re doing as the game progresses.

You’ll want to choose an electronic dart board with a nice size electronic darts scorer in its design. No one wants to use binoculars to see their score from 8 feet away!
